High torque and lower RPM causes massive cylinder pressures and can bend rods (more likely) and crack piston rings and their landings (less likely). High RPM (more than stock, >7k) can cause premature big end bearing failure or worst case, cause the cap bolts to shear and send the piston and rod through the side of the block.
